A Pesewa for your Life

In life, we all want the best of everything. From clothes, food, houses and the best of cars.

In Ghanaian rapper M.anifest’s song entitled rich people problem, he said in the first verse “we all dey try acquire some property, a Benz and some new friends and now I feel uppity “. This phrase definitely shows every human being’s desire.

For every new vehicle advert you see on TV, in a magazine , on social media or hear on the radio, you see the best of it and you want it all but there is more to the bride behind the veil.

Now let’s delve deeper.

Safety

We all know what a seat belt is and it use in a vehicle. It’s a must in every vehicle but in the early stages it was not so.

Seat belts were invented in the late 1880s by an English engineer called George Cayley to help keep pilots inside gliders.

The real breakthrough with modern ones came in 1958 by Nils Bohim, Swedish engineer who invented the 3-point seat-belt. It took up until 1966 before it become a requirement in the United States of America.

The point here is that for every safety feature you will find in a vehicle now was once a luxury and you would have to pay extra for that.

Fast forward 2019, not all vehicles come with a reverse camera and parking assistance which are very essential to vehicular safety and other road users. Even for same models of a vehicle, not all the options (trims) come with the same features.

Such as, the 2019 edition ( US specification ) Kia Sportage, basic option (LX) has basic safety features like the auto light control and rear camera. The highest option which is the SX has autonomous and parking assist with front and rear sensors.

The safer you want to be, the more you should be ready to pay. Think about that.

Luxury

So once in a while (like a while) I visit a restaurant. Whether for a local Ghanaian dish or otherwise. On the menu, I would sometimes find same food, e.g. Jollof with fish with two different prices. This is where I draw the waiting guy’s attention and ask him to explain.Then he will explain to me that one comes with a bigger fish and increase in quantity of the food.

The same applies to a vehicle. For a particular vehicle model, there are different options which comes with different features. The push to start option and the sun roof are common features but they are not available on all options.

For the basic option (trim), as the name goes has the basic features and comes with the least price. The full option (trim) has all the features the manufacturer will come up like with massaging seats , apple play ,leather seats etc unless it’s a customised vehicle.

Other cases can be made for engine capacity as well.

So the next time you decide to buy a new vehicle and you want all the goodies that comes with it, make sure your money is up to the red line
